Acer Iconia Tab A500 priced at $450

Iconia Tab would be released on April 24

BANGALORE, INDIA: Further intensifying the tablet war, PC maker Acer has come up with a new version of tablet PC – Iconia Tab A500.
Unlike the previously launched Iconia, a laptop-cum-tablet computer with two touch screens, which runs on Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, this 10.1" tablet will be equipped with the latest Google Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" operating system, say reports.
It is said that the new tablet is designed for rich multimedia entertainment and hence it comes with a high resolution, high colour contrast display with wide viewing angle providing higher colour accuracy for better visuals from different perspective, allowing users to play or share HD video with friends on the go.
While online retailer Best Buy offers the new gadget for $450, which means it is $50 less than iPad 2, UK's online retailer Dixons offers it for £449.99 and they say it will be released on April 24.
The Iconia Tab A500 currently supports WiFi only, but Acer plans to unleash a 4G version this summer, TechNewsWorld quoted the company spokesperson Lisa Emard as saying.
One of the tablet's unique features is said to be its ability to run and play premium HD arcade games and complex online 3D games, thanks to the multi-touch screen and gyro meter control.
As per the information provided by the retailers, Iconia Tab A500 is powered by a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 250 processor, and has 1GB of RAM. They said the built-in Wireless-N WLAN technology allows easy internet access at WiFi hotspots.
It also has a rear 5mp and front 2mp cameras for capturing HD video and photos.
